The Royal We

The Royal We by Heather Cocks and Jessica Morgan
(Grand Central Publishing, 2015, 454 pages)

The authors of this book are the masterminds behind GoFugYourself, a celebrity fashion site I love (check it out, they’re hilarious). Not only do the women love blogging about fashion, they’re also slightly obsessed with the British monarchy. The Royal We is their fictionalized (and Americanized) interpretation of the romance between Prince William and Kate Middleton.

Bex, an American college student, made the decision to study abroad at Oxford for a semester. She didn’t anticipate anything out of the ordinary coming of this decision. But she also didn’t expect to meet and befriend Nick, a prince and heir to the throne. Bex didn’t even recognize Nick when they first met and she’s able to see through the royal haze to get to know the man behind the crown.

As things begin to get more serious it becomes harder to keep their relationship a secret and away from the prying eyes of paparazzi and the royal family. This isn’t the life Bex signed up for, but Nick is the man she wants. Is it possible that their lives are *too* different and that their romance can’t survive public scrutiny?

This was a fun book – perfect vacation reading. It’s a light, quick read that hits all the right marks. I’ve seen this book described more than once as Kate Middleton Fan Fiction… I mean it’s true, but it’s fun. 🙂 I’d say this is perfect summer/beach reading.
