Touch by Claire North
(Orbit Books, 2015, 432 pages)

I read a review for Touch on NPR and had to check it out, it’s a tricky book to describe. The main premise is that ghosts exist in this world by inhabiting the bodies of the living; able to jump from one to the other by just a touch. But there is someone trying to stop them by killing their host before they can jump, the only way to “kill” the ghost. In the process of finding out who is behind the effort, the ghost takes the reader on a journey across Europe and back in time letting us see what it might be like if we could be anyone we wanted to be. It also looks at what it means to be human and what it takes to love another. It was original and thrilling!
