Kingdom Keepers VII: The Insiders by Ridley Pearson
(Disney-Hyperion, 2014, 609 pages)
Kingdom Keepers VII: The Insider is the seventh and final book in the Kingdom Keepers series by Ridley Pearson. The Kingdom Keepers is a group of five teenagers (Finn, Maybeck, Philby, Willa, and Charlene) who try to protect the Disney parks and properties from Disney’s evil villains. Three years have passed since The Kingdom Keepers last battle with the Disney villains (also known as the Overtakers). However, the Overtakers have not given up their quest to destroy Disney. The biggest battle for the Disney empire takes place in this final book of the series. The Kingdom Keepers along with some friends and the Disney heroes and heroines must work together to prevent the Overtakers from completely destroying Disneyland and Disney’s California Adventure theme park in Anaheim, California. Tia Dalma, the Evil Queen, and Chernaborg plan to cause an earthquake and fire to bring down the parks.
In Kingdom Keeper VII: The Insider, Ridley Pearson allowed individuals to contribute paragraphs to his novel. While the paragraphs were well written, I found it distracting. It disrupted the flow for me. I also found this book to be a little too long. I got a little tired of all the near death misses for the Keepers. However, the book did have a good story and tied up most of the loose ends of the series. At least, I thought it did until I read the epilogue. I see a new series with these characters in Ridley Pearson’s future.
