Joyland by Stephen King
(Hard Case Crime, 2013, 288 pages)
“Set in a small-town North Carolina amusement park in 1973, Joyland tells the story of the summer in which college student Devin Jones comes to work as a carny and confronts the legacy of a vicious murder, the fate of a dying child, and the ways both will change his life forever.” – Amazon.com
I think this was the shortest Stephen King book I’ve read, but it is a thoroughly enjoyable little read. It has murder, ghosts, and psychics but it is more of a crime novel than a horror story. If you want a great story in an interesting setting pick up this little gem.
